Market Reflections

Market Reflections:  One aspect of photographing some markets is the reflection and layering of the image that occurs when taking the photo through a market/store window.  I love these photos because there is always an element of surprise in terms of what I will capture in the final image.  There are always at least three 'layers' - the actual goods seen through the window glass, the reflection of myself (there is definitely a 'self portrait' experiment going on here) taking the photo, and the background, which includes people and cars moving, the buildings in the opposite side of the street, etc.  Occasionally the juxtaposition of images is truly beautiful and mysterious, but at the time it's just whimsical and eye-catching!

Shiny Stuff

So yeah, "shiny" is my favorite color, perferably with a silver shine.  I also like shiny objects that repeat.

Mannequins

I have an obession with markets, particularly when they present incongruous images such as these mannequins.  I love the simultaneously random and specific nature of the details on the display- hair, body shape, skin color and clothes; and the reflections of background in the windows and streets of the images.

These next three photos are not mannequins, but somehow they 'fit'....
